HBO ANNOUNCE ‘FRIENDS’ REUNION STARRING THE ORIGINAL CAST

Friends is returning for a one-off reunion special.

The iconic sitcom which made Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer household names ended 16 years ago but thanks to its timeless humour and relatable themes, the series has remained popular – most recently via Netflix with the streaming giant paying over $100 million in 2018 to keep the series on its platform.

Fans have been desperate for a reunion for years following the last episode which was broadcast in 2004 to over 52.5 million American viewers – making it the most-watched television episode of the noughties.

The reunion will be broadcast on HBO’s cable network and they said in a statement, “Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together – we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends Library.”

Each actor is expected to be paid £1.9 million for their appearance.

Perry posted on Instagram: “It’s happening” with a photo of the cast from the 1990s.

The rest of the cast then started sharing the same post.
