‘GRAND THEFT AUTO 6’ DETAILS APPARENTLY LEAKED ONLINE

This week we’ve seen a lengthy GTA 6 ‘leak’ passed around the internet that seems extremely unreliable at best and flat-out made up at worst. While we do know that Rockstar is no doubt working on GTA 6, the sheer level of detail in this leak and some of the conflicting reveals seem…wrong, so we’re not putting any stock in it.

But I think it’s at least worth discussing in the sense of what if it was true, or at least what if Rockstar employed some of the listed items in the new game? Even if the leak doesn’t pan out, there’s a lot to like even if you read it as just a list of suggestions.

Rumours related GTA 6 leaked on the internet by a user named coolthulu42 a few days ago.

The user claims to have a close friend who works behind the scenes with the American gaming publisher behind GTA, who hasn’t confirmed the rumours but he hasn’t denied them either.

According to the user, GTA 6 has been in development since 2012 and is set in Vice City and a “new fictional location based on Rio de Janeiro”. The internet also claims the game will be set in the 1970s-1980s and the main character is Ricardo, “an up and coming drug lord – wannabe.”

With GTA 4 in Liberty City and GTA 5 in San Andreas, it does stand to reason that GTA 6 would return us to an expanded version of Vice City, something that I think the entire fanbase would appreciate. The leak also makes claims that GTA-adjacent stand-ins for Cuba and Rio could be in the mix, and a claim that the game is influenced by Netflix’s Narcos (which takes place in Colombia and Mexico). We can see a South/Central American city as a second location being a good idea, provided the game doesn’t try and subsist on stereotypes of the region.

Check the claims for yourself here.
