DAPPY & TORY LANEZ JOIN FORCES FOR FRESH COLLABORATION “NOT TODAY”
The Plug Recordz are currently gearing up for the release of their Plug Talk project and to keep the momentum going, they have released their brand-new single “Not Today” featuring Dappy and Tory Lanez.
International collaborations are becoming increasingly popular; as Toronto star Tory Lanez recently joined forces with Nafe Smallz for their hit “Good Love” – and it looks like he’s got another banger on his hands with UK veteran Dappy. So far 2019 has been a major state of growth for some of our much loved UK artists so the collaborations between UK and overseas artists are highly welcomed!
Led by the gentle plucking of strings, “Not Today” is carried by Dappy’s combination of bars and melodies before he’s joined by Tory who provides a catchy expected verse. The visuals are dark and switch between showing Dappy driving on the motorway in pitch black and turning up with Tory Lanez with that FRESH drip in a hallway.
Dappy, is an British singer-songwriter, rapper, actor of Greek descent. He is best known for being the lead singer of the Camden-based Grime/hip hop/R&B trio N-Dubz, with his cousin Tulisa (Tulisa Contostavlos) and their friend Fazer (Richard Rawson). The No Regrets Songfacts states that he reached #1 in the UK with his debut solo single, “No Regrets”, which was released on September 18, 2011.
Dappy is known for his slightly unusual dress sense and his love for what he describes as “eye-catching headwear”. His trademark is wearing a selection of woolly chullos (sometimes referred to as “Dappy hats”), turning up one of or both the ear-flaps of the hat.
Tory Lanez is a popular Canadian rapper and singer best known for his mixtape ‘Lost Cause.’ Tory was born in Toronto, Canada. His family moved to Montreal before settling permanently in Florida. Tory was a rap music fan since early childhood. However, his mother’s death impacted him a lot. Thus, as a teenager, he suffered from behavioral issues and was sent back to Toronto to live with his grandmother. He began living independently at the age of 15. Tory released his debut mixtape, ‘T.L 2 T.O,’ in 2009. The album was released on ‘YouTube.’ He also started directing his own music videos. By 2014, Tory was already a famous rapper. His 2014 mixtape, ‘Lost Cause,’ became a huge hit. Two singles from the album, namely, ‘Say It’ and ‘Luv,’ became particularly successful. Following this success, Tory was signed by ‘Mad Love Records’ and ‘Interscope Records.’ Following this, he released two studio albums, namely, ‘I Told You’ and ‘Memories Don’t Die,’ in 2016 and 2018, respectively.
